About the Certified in Open Source Intelligence (C|OSINT) (COSINT) program
The Certified in Open Source Intelligence (C|OSINT) (COSINT) is a board-certified credential issued by McAfee Institute. Like every McAfee Institute program, it pairs a structured, self-paced curriculum with a proctored board examination, so the credential reflects demonstrated competence rather than attendance alone. Candidates work through the coursework on their own schedule, sit the board exam when ready, and maintain the credential over time. Enrollment is open to practitioners and to career changers who meet the program's eligibility criteria.
Enrollees in this program typically come from law enforcement, federal and state investigative agencies, corporate security, loss prevention, fraud and financial crime units, intelligence teams, the military, and adjacent private-sector investigative roles. The reviews below are written by people who held a confirmed enrollment record for this specific program, which is what the gold verified enrollment badge indicates: a matching order in McAfee Institute's system, not a self-declaration.
The average shown above is a plain arithmetic mean of every published review of this program, rounded to one decimal place, with no weighting and no exclusions. The distribution chart reports all five rating levels, including one- and two-star reviews. Reviews are listed newest first and are never reordered or filtered by rating. Full curriculum details, eligibility requirements, pricing, and enrollment for this program live on the McAfee Institute website: Certified in Open Source Intelligence (C|OSINT) (COSINT).

Amazing service thank you!
I earned my certification last week and I would highly recommend this certification. I feel better equipped and more knowledgeable now that I have undergone this course. Being board certified makes me stand out and is a special feather in my cap.
This was a great class! The material was very comprehensive, and the teachers were top-notch! I would definitely recommend.
I enjoyed the training and assignments for the course. I discovered new tools and techniques, learned how to conduct investigations using critical thinking skills. I would recommend the course to anyone interested in sharpening their open source investigation skills. Because I have experience and interest in dark markets, I would like to see additional content on TOR-based investigations and tools.
if anyone care about osint i recommend this course for investigator or cyber professional.
I enjoyed this course
Great course and cant wait to start another one
I enjoyed learning about the concepts and techniques offered by the certification. Understanding the process for various means of acquiring open source information is key. However, I was not a fan of the final testing process. I had a hard time finding a computer that was not my work computer and met the requirements for ProctorU. I also wish that the onslaught of pop ups every time I login to McAfee institute would stop. It would also be nice to receive fewer emails about renewing the certification that expires in two years.
This is a wealth of information. The course is simple, but still in depth enough to give a solid understanding of OSINT. I enjoy that each section is broken down to allow for self-paced research and learning.
As an investigator I am always looking to improve my skill set. I am learning new things as I progress through the course that I consider vital. I would encourage fellow colleagues to take this course.
I worked with the Army Education Center here at Fort Sam Houston to purchase the Certified in Open-Source Intelligence (C|OSINT) coursework under the Credentialing Assistance program. I am just starting to access the course materials and will be using the item to complete my certification. However, I can say that based on all my interactions so far with the McAfee Institute Team, my experience will be a very enjoyable one. I look forward to working in friendly learning environment.
Great content for the students to learn about thought process in OSINT investigation
Well I only just started and see that it will be challenging but very interesting. I was happy that Admissions was able to work with me on paying a price I could afford since I am retired. I like that the videos are short and too the point. I have to figure out how to connect with faculty when I have a question, I am sure I am missing a button that I am probably staring right at it. So far, it a great course!
It has been great so far. Only been able to work on the first chapter but I'm sure the rest I would love as well. The information is so interesting is makes it easy to read and study.
Very detailed, lots of good information.
The course is very well structured and written. We see that teacher got a very interesting professionnal experience. He explain in simple term the intelligence process and the analysis technics to create clear report. Also discussions on specific part of the course and dissertation are mandatory before taking the exam part. Highly recommended for law enforcement professionnals as well as cyber Intel professional , COSINT course will provide you all what you need to learn in OSINT domain (not only technical point of views).
it has been great experience of understanding alot anout Osint and social media usefulness, it can enhanced my capacity of understanding how easy one can assess profile of target, how photo can easily assist law enforcement officers to check, many tactics of mapping snaps, and many more genereally it has been good knowledge which i believe it will contribute to my future aspect about OSINT, Thanks for your support and simple course units McAfee prepared for its students.
